Shadow & Light

Jesus, the Light of the World and Psalm 91: Resting Under the Shadow of the Almighty God

As Christians, we often turn to the Bible for solace and guidance during times of uncertainty or difficulty. Two passages in particular offer great comfort and reassurance in today's world and can help us understand our role as children of God. These passages are John 8:12 and Psalm 91.

In John 8:12, Jesus declares that he is the light of the world. The idea of light is a common theme in the Bible, symbolizing truth, righteousness and goodness. In a world that is often dark and uncertain, Jesus offers us a path towards truth and clarity. He is like a beacon of hope shining in a sea of despair, illuminating the way towards eternal life.

When we follow Jesus' teachings and live according to his example, we become a light unto others. We bring love, compassion and kindness into the world, and through our actions, we help dispel darkness and spread the good news of Jesus Christ. It is through our deeds that we honor God and fulfill our purpose.

Psalm 91 provides us with another source of comfort and strength during difficult times. The Psalmist writes that those who rest under the shadow of the Almighty God shall be protected and delivered from harm. The imagery of a shadow is powerful; it suggests safety, security, and refuge.

In the midst of life's storms, as we encounter trials and tribulations, Psalm 91 reminds us that God is our shield and our fortress, our protector and our deliverer. We can trust in his steadfast love and his unfailing promises, knowing that as we rest under his shadow, we are safe and secure in his mighty hands.

In conclusion, as we navigate the challenges of life, let us turn to Jesus as the light of the world, and find comfort in the shadow of the Almighty God. May we be like lights shining in the darkness, spreading hope and love wherever we go. And may we always remember that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble.
